Sly Red Bird

I went out trying to get some pictures at the swamp side of the beach when I spotted this little red bird. I am convinced this little guy was playing with me because it would let me get close enough to take a shot but when I started to raise my camera the little guy would fly off to a different location.

Edisto State Beach, South Carolina

Went tent camping last week for the first time in about 10 years.  We went to Edisto State beach and were able to camp about 100 yards from the surf.  We really enjoyed hearing the waves crash against the beach all night long.

A Frightening Lizard

My daughters and I were outside enjoying the sunshine yesterday  They were playing in the sand and I was trying to clean out my storage closet a few feet from them.  All of a sudden I heard them screaming for me.  I stepped  out of the shed and both of them were standing on the retaining wall yelling about the lizard I just removed from the shed.  I guess it took a few moments for it to sink in they were afraid of lizards. I tried to convence them the little guy was cute but they did not see it.

South Carolina State House Dome

Two beautiful flags fly on top of State House Dome.  The first is the flag of the United States of America  and second is the South Carolina State Flag.  A few years back used to fly another flag, the Confederate battle flag; However this third flag seemed not to unite but divide our beautiful state. On July 1, 2000 the flag was removed from the South Carolina statehouse. We now display the the Confederate battle flag on a separate monument of the grounds of the State House.  I for one am glad this has happened.  When opposing groups are both upset with the decision It seems like a true compromise was made.  But what do I know I am just a dumb southerner (From Southern California that is)

Money to Loan

Money to loan is advertised on a store front less than a block away from the SC State House.  I wonder how much money this store loaned (taxed) to goverment before going out of bussness.
